We use this in place of a nightlight because it turns off by itself after 10 minutes. My daughter loves it and it does send up a very lovely rainbow on her ceiling. No moving parts to break. Worth the money.
Replacing batteries doesn't work either. I bought this as a gift and it only works if my 12 yr old niece taps/bangs on it. This product arrived malfunctioning. And then, still, only intermittently. Don't waste your money. Listen to the rest of the reviews. It's not worth it.
My older kids love this - (8 yrs and older). My daughter who loves prisms and sunlight in her room has this on at night. It gives a very nice rainbow on the wall for 10 minutes before it shuts off. You have a choice of all the colors, or cycling between one color at a time. A younger child might enjoy it, but I am not sure it is durable enough for a younger child.
This is not a toy, but a great rainbow. My daughter is a 10 year old and I am 51. We both love seeing the rainbow. I like the auto shutoff when on battery mode.
I bought this for my five year old niece for Christmas and my sister says it's just adorable and my niece loves it. The only criticism is that it runs on batteries or an AC adapter and it would have been nice if an adapter were sold with it.
